Q: What is Key Club?
A: Key Club is the OLDEST and LARGEST student-led non-profit organization for high school students. Through our focus on service, leadership, and family, we aim to teach and spread the core values of Key Club: caring, character building, inclusivity, and leadership.
Key Club is funded through our nominal dues paid from every member and our parent organization, Kiwanis International. With the helps of these funds we are able to support our partnered characters such as:
March of Dimes
UNICEF
Pediatric Trauma Program
Children's Miracle Network
Q: Why should I join Key Club?
A: Key Club is the largest service club on campus and presents a multitude of opportunities. Through Key Club, members are able to develop their leadership skills, make a community impact, gain valuable volunteer hours, build friendships/network, be recognized for their work through various awards, develop their character, and overall be a part of an amazing community.
Q: What if I have a conflicting schedule?
A: No problem! Whether it's sports, transportation, or just no free time, there is no pressure to volunteer! Besides the weekly meetings every Tuesday afterschool, Key Club does not have a set schedule. Attending EVERY meeting or event is not mandatory. Key Club just provides a list of volunteering opportunities for the members. Members can then choose to attend any events they want. It's based on the member's availability.
Q: How do I become a member?
A: To become a member, you must first apply by filling out the member application form and MUST have your dues paid. There will be a set deadline to pay dues and submit the application at the beginning of the year. Do not worry, there is no requirements for the membership application, it's a simple form to make sure your name and grade is in our system so the officers can log your volunteer hours. For the dues paid, it is a fee members must pay to join. The fees being paid go towards the members in term of events, DCMs, cords, stoles, and scholarship opportunities. The fees also go towards the various charities Key Club supports. During the membership application window Ayala students are able to pay their dues at the Ayala Student Store.
PLEASE DO NOT PAY DUES OR SUBMIT THE MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION AFTER THE DEADLINE. APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED AFTER THE DEADLINE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, THEREFORE HOURS CANNOT BE LOGGED.
Q: What events do Key Club do?/How do I get volunteer hours?
A: To get service hours, Key Cluber must volunteer. Key Club offers all sort of events such as:
Donation events (clothes, medical supplies, food cans, etc.)
Crafts for causes (letters to hospitals, dog toys, origami, etc.)
Service (helping out at retirement homes, city events, schools, community events, etc.)
Q: Where can I find the list of volunteering opportunities?
A: Volunteering opportunities are updated monthly and can be found on your respective google classroom. At the beginning of each month you will find a list of school and division activities to attend. Information such as date, time, location, potential volunteer hours, and information about the event will all be avaliable. To hear the monthly service events, you can also attend the weekly Tuesday meetings at the lunch tables.
Q: How do I know how many service hours I have?
A: Students' hours are all logged onto hour sheets, separated by grade. Your hour sheet should be listed in google classroom. If not, all classes' hours are available on the Ayala Key Club website on the "Hours" tab.
Q: What do I do if I have missing hours?
A: In case you check the hours sheet and you have missing hours, there are most likely three scenarios. First, hours have not been updated. Please be mindful that our officers are students too and all hours will be updated by the end of the month. Second, during the event you were not checked in/you did not fill out the hour submission form. If there is not an officer at the event, or the event has multiple shifts, it is difficult for officers to know who was at the event and for how long. So please make sure the hour submission form was completed. Third, there may just be a mistake. If you've filled out the hour submission form or were checked in by an officer and at the end of the month your hours are still not logged, please email ayalakeyclub@gmail.com and describe the issue. Do not be afraid to reach out, the email is open for all members to give any comments, questions, or concerns.
